What happens in the first session ?
We discuss what you are struggling with, what has brought you to therapy and I explain how I work and you can ask questions at any time. During a breathwork consultation, I will observe your breathing and assess your breathing patterns and posture. I use EFT and breathwork independently or can combine the 2
How often do people usually come ?
You can choose once a week or once a fortnight.
Can breathwork help with neck pain, headaches and migraine ?
Yes correcting breathing patterns can alleviate neck and shoulder pain, headaches and migraine
Have you had comprehensive training ?
Yes my training in depth and comprehensive over 5 months. it was level 3 Breathwork coaching with BCTS the only course endorsed by CPCAB and included exams and case studies, polyvagal theory and anatomy.
Will I feel lightheaded or cry in the session ?
People have different sensations when practicing breathwork, like lightheadedness and may feel emotional and cry, these are all very normal and I will support you through these gently. Breathwork can help you release emotions that have been stored in your body and feel lighter and calmer.
What if I can’t breathe through my nose?
That’s okay. We can adapt breathing practices to suit your current ability, including gentle mouth breathing.
Do I need to do breathwork every day?
Daily practice helps you feel the benefits more quickly just 5 minutes 3 times a day makes a huge impact, you can do it while waiting for the kettle to boil.
Is breathwork suitable for menopause or hormonal changes?
Yes. Breathwork can be incredibly supportive during perimenopause and menopause — easing hot flushes, improving sleep, and helping with mood swings and anxiety.
Does breathwork help with anxiety, stress and panic attacks?
Yes I have several breathing exercises that can help you feel calmer and help you feel in control. They work instantly to calm panic and help you feel calmer generally when practiced every day.
Can breathwork help me sleep better?
Yes just 10 mins at bedtime can help you drift off gently and help you get back to sleep really quickly.
Can breathwork increase my sports performance ?
Yes studies have shown a 10% increase in sport performance giving you the edge on your competitors.
How soon will I see an improvement with breathwork ?
I can be as fast as 2 weeks, that's how quickly my anxiety improved after just 10 minutes twice a day.
Can I have breathwork coaching alongside counselling/talking therapies ?
Yes they complement each other really well, I'm training to be a counsellor and will be integrating all my skills once I'm qualified
Can anyone do breathwork, is it safe?
Breathwork is very safe for all ages, there are a few health conditions where breathwork isn't recommended including unmedicated heart conditions and the first trimester of pregnancy. Certain breaths have contraindications. I always check health issues before the session to ensure particular breaths are safe with you.
Do you teach somatic tools ?
Yes my breathwork training includes somatic tools, which can help you feel more grounded and regulate emotions.
Do I have to lie down to do breathwork?
Not at all. You can practise breathwork sitting, standing, walking or even gardening. It’s about meeting your body where it’s at and finding what feels supportive.
What if I’ve tried breathwork before and didn’t like?
There are many different styles of breathwork. If one felt too intense or strange, it doesn’t mean they all will. I work gently and tailor each session to what feels safe and manageable for you.
What’s the difference between your style and Wim Hof-style breathing?
Wim Hof breathing is quite dynamic and strong — often involving breath holds and cold exposure. My approach is gentler, trauma-informed and tailored to your needs. We focus on calming and balancing the nervous system, and encouraging natural efficient breathing, rather than pushing limits.
